Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1/4 cup moong dal or masoor dal
  • 2 tbsp mixed vegetables (carrot, pumpkin, beans) - finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste (minimal)

Instructions

    Cook dal

    Pressure cook dal with turmeric and vegetables until very soft and mushy.

    Cook rice

    Cook rice separately until soft and fluffy.

    Prepare tempering

    Heat ghee, add cumin seeds. Pour over cooked dal and mix.

    Serve together

    Serve rice with dal, mashed lightly if needed for younger toddlers.
